Terrorists living in the United States

The major blow in the terrorism fight was in 2011 when Twin Towers were bombed and thousands of people killed; only twenty people were removed from the rubble.

Since then, the US government embarked on a sweep to get rid of any form of terrorist to an extent they sent troops to Iraq. In retaliation, the jihadist tried to run several retaliation attacks, but the government has been on the lookout.

However, there have been attacks after that, but not with many fatalities like the Twin Towers attack. There are several actions that the government took to ensure their citizens are safe and sound. Here are some of them

Actions that the government do against terrorism

Terrorism is a matter of urgency, for it’s a threat to national, if not global, security.

Different governments have different ways of fighting terrorism; it all depends on the significance of their inroads to your country.

Here are some of them

  1. Counter-terrorism

This is a psychological way of fighting terrorism. Jihadists have targets that they know are easy targets.

They do this by providing extra security in such areas. They also identify potential people who might be the target and warn them if not deport them to their countries.

  1. Sanctions

Nations depend on each other for imports and exports, including their citizens going to such countries for further education and to look for greener pastures.

They also include an economic and political decision that affects diplomats and regional organizations against movement and essential services.

At times, international online money companies are also under the instructions of the sanctions to prevent financiers- who are multinationals- from sending money and arms for the activities.

The sanctions include freezing of suspicious bank accounts, the suspect to be financiers of the criminal activities.

  1. Early detection of radicalization activities

Teachers and educators are tasked to identify cases of terrorism for prompt action and further arrest the perpetrators to the arms of government dealing with such criminal activities. The law safeguards citizens against the mass recruitment of citizens to jihadists.

  1. Stern action on terrorists and stakeholders

Behind the terrorist attack is a chain of personnel who include financiers, educators, religious leaders, politicians, and highly influential people.

The government has stern action against anyone related to terrorism, including a life sentence and manslaughter. Some countries act as an example for people who might wish to join the illegal group.

  1. Sharing of terrorist information

Governments promote speaking up, including cash rewards for such individuals to alert the public of such cases, and that has worked, thanks to the advent of social media.

They can also be detected on such platforms for quick action before they cause any further havoc. This applies to airport authorities, airlines, border points, and navy personnel.

Centralization of such information makes everyone be on the lookout and report since everyone can be a victim. This also includes assets and travel bans to foreign countries.

  1. Increased intelligence and security measures

Most military departments have a special unit that deals with terrorism; they undergo specialized training with a focus on various firearms and jihadist activities such that they try as much as possible to prevent an attack.

In case they find their way to their target like a building, they are the one on the frontline giving instructions to the men in uniforms for support to minimize fatalities.

Besides, they involve extra surveillance and 24/7 land, air, and water space monitoring for any suspicious aircraft, vessels, and ships.
